WHEN it comes to the sport of volleyball in Guyana, the name Lenny Shuffler has become a household name and for a man of his caliber, who has contributed close to 60 years of his life towards the sport, there is no better celebration to ask for. The 72-year-old Shuffler, who has been at the helm of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) for the past 11 years, will be celebrating his 73rd birthday tomorrow in grand style, when the GVF will hold a one-day event in his honour at the National Gymnasium from 10:00hrs.
The day’s activity will showcase the players from the national school programme as well as the Inter-Guiana Games male and female squads, while the senior teams in both the male and female categories and an Over-40 showdown will conclude the day’s activities.
Shuffler will also introduce another one of his innovative ideas, this time with the playing of ‘Relay Volley’ for this special occasion.
