One hospitalised, other on $200,000 bail
DEXTER Marshall, a miner of Lot 307 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with assaulting and wounding his friend, Dwayne Daniels alias ‘Buck’ Particulars of the offences, to which the defendant pleaded not guilty, said, on January 31, he unlawfully and maliciously assaulted and wounded the virtual complainant in the Mazaruni District.
Prior to Marshall being granted $200,000 bail, Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the two were good friends and had been drinking at a bar that night, when, apparently, Daniels, accidentally, kicked a case of beer that was next to Marshall.
The latter lost his temper, picked up two bottles and struck Daniels in his head, causing him to suffer injuries, as well.
They became involved in a fight and were both taken to Imbaimadai Health Centre for medical attention. However, Daniels suffered far worse injuries and was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
The case has been transferred to Kamarang Court, also in Mazaruni, for February 8.
