THE Ministry of Amerindian Affairs Wednesday handed over a cheque for $1.5M to Taushida Village, Region 9. Nigel Dharamlall, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, presented the cheque to Toshao Moses Isaacs. The donation will assist in the construction of a village rest house towards which the villagers will also make contributions.
Taushida, population 290, is located in the Karsabai sub-district. The project that is expected to attract ongoing tourism activities in the village should be completed by the end of April.
The ministry has been frequently providing assistance to Amerindian communities to ensure residents live a better life.
Recently, it handed over a minibus to residents of Kamwatta, in the Moruca sub-region, Region 1, valued at $3.2M, and a 40-horsepower outdoor engine to another Region 1 community, Sebai, valued at $1.2M.
