Another vicious Nestor attack on the PPP/C Administration

THE mischievous scheme of Lurlene Nestor proliferates on a daily basis with an abundance of lies, distortions and misinformation in the public domain. She reminds us of the legendary Chichidodo bird which feeds fat on the worms that grow on the dirt.
Nestor’s letter in yesterday’s Kaieteur News is yet another of her many vicious attacks (as opportunistic as it were) on the PPP/C Administration’s valiant efforts in supporting and preserving Mashramani as a national festival. There is no doubt that Nestor’s intention, which she should have no success with, is to promote tribal prejudice and ethnic hatred as we have seen attempted on previous occasions.
Only recently, as a representative of the APNU youth arm, YCT, Nestor and her acolytes executed a mission along the danger-path of this backward policy by calling on APNU supporters, predominantly AFRO Guyanese, to boycott a section of the business community in Guyana. As a result of the outrage, she twisted the boycott call which was supported by APNU Deputy Leader Rupert Roopnarine, into a plea for youths to spend wisely.
It was the same Nestor and her acolytes who tried to profiteer off the said youths by promoting fairs, dances and other activities that forced them (the youths) into their pockets as patrons. If this is not a contradiction or hypocrisy, then tell me what is? In fact, their double-standards and claimed support for a united Guyana  mirrors the pretence of Nestor and her APNU collection that project themselves as wanting peace and unity.
Nestor’s pretence as a so-called representative of youths and other Guyanese is nothing more than a destructive paradigm which can push us to the precipice of racial and ethnic strife,  in keeping with her objective.
The fact that no evidence exists in Nestor’s argument about the PPP/C Administration’s intention to discard Mashramani leaves her in a deservingly lonely and desolate place. We have seen the consistent investment and support given to Mashramani by successive PPP/C Administrations that make her conclusion difficult to digest. In fact, without specific reference to expenditures, Mashramani is perhaps the single largest national festival that receives more financial inputs than any other, testimony to the PPP/C Administration’s commitment to preserving and promoting the things that bring us together as a people.
While I am happy Nestor was able to eventually recover from the disappointment of not being selected by APNU as a representative of the people, she should not be allowed to get away with this attempt to use Mashramani as a means of promoting disunity and ethnic hatred.
These are civil times.
