Guyana locked in battle with Windward Islands

TWO time champions Guyana were locked in a tight battle with the Windward Islands at the Kensington Oval last night, in a game they must win by a  27-run margin, if they intend to advance to the final four of the West Indies Cricket Board Caribbean T20 tournament.
Asked to take first strike by their opponents, Guyana playing an unchanged side throughout the tournament and riding on the back of skipper Christopher Barnwell 32 (36b, 2×4), Sewnarine Chattergoon 27 (22b, 4×4, 1×6) Trevon Griffith 17 (10b, 2×6, 1×4) and Veerasammy Permaul unbeaten 15 (7b 1×6, 1×4), reached 140 for 8 from their 20 overs.
Despite two rain interruptions during the Guyanese innings, Darren Sammy and Delorn Johnson who took three wickets each for 11 and 40 runs respectively, pegged back their opponent’s batting after they raced to 34 for 1  inside three overs.
