I WOULD publicly like to acknowledge all the dailies for accommodating my contributions in their letters columns over the years, especially with my ‘Sports’ contributions. No special favours were ever granted to me and neither have I ever received any payment for any of my contributions. It’s all out of goodwill and my choice of topics. Persons have got to also understand that I have absolutely no control or influence with the respective editors’ decisions in having any of my publications added to the letters columns.
I am no threat and will never be stealing the limelight from anyone, especially with my personal views on ‘Sports’. Anyone and everyone are free to make their contributions via the letters columns of all the dailies and it is the reader’s decision as to whether those readings are good for consumption.
Having said that, I now challenge the ‘Hits and Jams Entertainment Group’, one of the most successful entertainment groups over a number of years in business, to fully come on board, put your money where your mouth is and publicly make a generous financial contribution towards a healthy cause and representation will also be made on your behalf at a major global sports meet.
The Ministry of Sports/Government of the day just donated $5 Million towards the Rugby Fraternity for a group heading out to a major competition and I am sure ‘Hits and Jams Entertainment Group’ can match that figure. That amount of $5M should be a rain drop in the ocean.
I make reference to the 2012 London Olympics. It is stated in a KN report by Edison Jefford dated Jan.17 that ‘Guyana has two Olympic qualifiers in athletics’.
It is the view of Mr. Colin Boyce (President of the AAG) that efforts of the association must be focused on those who are already qualified with limited available resources. Having read that, ‘Hits and Jams Ent. Group’ came to mind immediately. This is an ideal venture for the group and, in my opinion, it can contribute positively towards a new image from the current negative one it has developed since the 2011 elections period.
The ‘Fandemonium’ project will not be enough to fully get back on track and I am hearing that patrons and supporters are expecting free admission at the August Jamzone show.
Everyone free to make contribution
