Previously convicted Leon Odelle, of Line Path, Corriverton, Corentyne, Berbice, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment yesterday, by Magistrate Fabio Azore , after he pleaded guilty to robbery under arms. He admitted that, on December 31, 2011, in company with others and armed with a knife, he robbed taxi driver Gainder Ramharrack of $14,000.
The convict and his accomplices had hired the victim to take them to an upper Corentyne location but on arrival there, instead of paying, Odelle pulled out a knife, held it to Ramharrack’s throat and relieved him of the money.  
Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, informed the Court that Odelle is a repeat offender who had previously served several prison sentences.
