Dead birds found in home of larceny defendant
AMAN, who was allegedly found with dead domesticated birds in his home, was refused bail and remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabio Azore at the Whim Magistrates’ Court, Corentyne, Berbice, yesterday. Hussein Ganga, 35, faced charges of break and enter and larceny of poultry to which he pleaded not guilty.
Police Corporal Roberto Figueria, prosecuting, said, on December 31, the defendant broke into the poultry farm of Nalinie Singh at Number 75 Village, Corentyne, from where he stole 35 ducks and five fowls.
The prosecutor said the virtual complainant had secured her pen prior to leaving the farm but, on her return, observed that it had been broken into and the feathered stock missing.
Subsequent to the report,the police visited the defendant’s house where a number of dead birds were found and he was unable to explain how they had come into his possession, the prosecutor said.
The case has been transferred to the Springlands Court, also on The Corentyne, for January 26.
