On consecutive days…

Second defendant charged with minibus passenger robbery
ANOTHER man appeared in court yesterday charged with robbing a minibus passenger.
Chris Nurse (no address given) was the second man in two consecutive days to face a similar charge before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
He pleaded not guilty to having, on January 11, robbed Vidyawanttie Rampersaud of a gold band valued at $60,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was seated in the bus next to a window when the defendant snatched the jewel off her hand.
The prosecutor, who said the victim raised an alarm and the defendant was apprehended by persons in the vicinity with a piece of the band in his hand, successfully objected to bail for Nurse, pointing out that the defendant had committed other robberies but the virtual complainants, usually, refuse to offer evidence against him.
Nurse was remanded to prison and is to make another court appearance on January 17.
