Popular businessman throws Christmas Day bash at Bartica

-in thanksgiving for second chances
FROM east, west, north and south of the Essequibo River they came in boats, docking outside the home of popular businessman, Chunilall ‘Vulture’ Babulall, M.S., to join him in thanksgiving for the manifold blessings he had received over the past year, including the sparing of his life.
Babulall last year underwent a successful kidney operation in the USA. He decided to hold a function to thank God for sparing his life, and so did in the form of honouring the kids of Bartica and its environs on Christmas Day.
Over 1,200 children, senior citizens and others, each received lunch, drinks, ice cream and a gift. They were assisted by members of the Bartica Lions Club and executive members of the Lions Zone 2C.
Among those feted were Father Malcolm Rodrigues; former Regional Chairman, Gordon Bradford; Bartica Lions Club Chairman, Rensford Inniss; Lions Zone 2C Chairman, Lloyd ‘Skip’ Garraway; members of the CB&R Mining Inc.; and the Babulall family and relatives.

Commitment
Babulall spoke of his life’s experiences, and made a personal commitment to support charity, sport and the needy. He explained that his company has sponsored the ‘first-prize’ in the prestigious 22nd annual Kashif & Shanghai Football Tournament, and a subsidiary of his business has sponsored Milerock FC in the same tournament. He declared that, after his medical surgery and the success of his business, his first goal in life is to look out for the less fortunate.

Babulall has been offering his services to the less fortunate for over ten years. He is very gratified when the little that has been shared means a lot to some lonely family or child.
Babulall, who had suffered in the February 2008 Bartica massacre and was awarded a Medal of Service at the last Investiture Ceremony, has been a leading donor of charity in Bartica and its environs, and has supported the Bartica Lions Club in sponsoring the Inter- Secondary School
Debating Competition, among other things.
Asked how he felt when nominated for the Medal of Service Award, the soft-spoken, jovial Babulall said, “Honoured.” He noted that he must have done something to get a national award. “My contributions have spoken out, and I am thankful,” he declared.
Chunilall Babulall is the Managing Director of a chain of businesses in Guyana, namely CB&R Mining Inc; Aruwai Enterprise Inc; Aruwai Real Estate; and Aruwai Plaza, which is being constructed on Sheriff Street.
The Babulall family, employees and relatives extend Season’s Greetings to all Guyana, and wish everyone a prosperous 2012.
