A BRAND new year is here and it’s that time when people around the world will make good on their resolutions as they turn the page on the last 12 months and crack open a new calendar. For many, the onset of the New Year will find them with family and friends, reminiscing on times past and looking forward to what the future has in store, while for those who venture to New Year’s Eve mass, the message of hope, peace and devotion will resound as they embrace the dawn of a new time.
On the eve of the New Year, the Guyana Chronicle caught up with those who opted to attend mass at several places of worship in Georgetown, and to observe the last few hours of 2011 in reverence.
Over at the First Assembly of God Church, in Wortmanville, worshippers were spotted arriving mere minutes to midnight, to usher in 2012 in the House of the Lord.
With glittering fireworks and celebrations, from New Zealand to Times Square, the world eagerly welcomed a new year, in the hope for a better future.
