ANSA McAl promises bigger, better Carib Soca Monarch contest

AFTER a year’s hiatus, the Carib Soca Monarch competition is back. At a press conference held in the boardroom of the ANSA McAL headquarters at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara Friday, Brand Manager, Nigel Worrel disclosed that a bigger, better competition will be on offer.
Noting that the Carib Soca Monarch competition has always been about what the company can give back to people, he cited Carib Soca Monarch alumni Adrian Dutchin, Shellon ‘Shelly G’ Garraway and Marlon ‘Malo’ Webster as some of the success stories of the Carib Soca Monarch.
The rules of the competition are as follows: composition must be an original; composition must not be longer than five minutes; composition must not have been entered in any other song competition; tempo must be over 95 beats per minute; composition must not contain any scandalous, libelous, or lewd material.
A million-dollar first prize is up for grabs, with five hundred thousand dollars being on offer for first runner-up and two hundred and fifty thousand dollars being the prize for the second runner-up.
Worrel said that ANSA McAL is also looking for other ways to reward the contestants, and there will be a People’s Choice Award and an appearance fee.
The deadline for submission of entries is January 11, 2012, and no late entries will be accepted.
