Digicel on board with KMTC once again

FOR the third successive year, telecommunication giant Digicel (Guyana) Limited has seen it fit to partner with the Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) when they host their annual Boxing Day horse racing meeting at their Bush Lot Corentyne track next Tuesday. At a simple presentation ceremony held at their Barrack Street, Kingston office yesterday, Digicel Events and Sponsorship Manager Gavin Hope presented Honorary President of KMTC and Retired Chancellor of the Judiciary Cecil Kennard with a cheque for $250 000 and the first place trophy.
In accepting same, Kennard thanked the telecommunications service provider for their continued support not only to horse racing in Guyana, but sports on the whole, adding how impossible it is to make any event a successful one without sponsorship.
“I must say thanks to Digicel for coming on board with the KMTC for another year, in such a tangible way. As you are aware, it is impossible to make any event a success story without sponsorship and with Digicel being actively involved with sports in Guyana, it is a big plus to the fraternity.”
Hope echoed the sentiments of Kennard and said his company was very pleased to be associated with the event once again.
“This is our third year sponsoring this event and certainly we at Digicel feel pleased to be doing so, especially knowing that this one brings down the curtain on the horseracing calendar for another year, as it has done in times past.
We will be anticipating some clean and intense competition among the stables that will be competing on the day, while we look forward to working with the KMTC with their list of events in the coming year,” stated Hope.
Some of the I3 and Lower horses who will be doing battle in the event which covers a distance of six furlongs and has a first place prize of $160,000 are Miracle Silver, Oh So Sharp, Kevin, Speed Vision, Natural Mystic, Golden Reprise and Nobody Knows amongst others.
