Two on simple larceny charges remanded overnight

DELROY Williams was one of two men remanded to prison, overnight yesterday, on simple larceny charges.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, he pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on December 12, he stole a cell phone, valued $25,000, property of Leanne Thomas.

Police Sergeant, Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was at a bus park and about to make a call when the defendant snatched the phone.
The prosecutor said public-spirited citizens apprehended Williams and handed him over to the police.
The defendant will be back in court today, like Charles Holder (no address given either), who also pleaded not guilty. The allegation against him is that, on December 12, he stole an $80,000 gold chain, belonging to Celia Jordan.
Prosecutor Harvey reported that public-spirited citizens also arrested Holder but he was given a severe beating before being put in the hands of the police.
The prosecutor said the defendant refused to go to hospital for treatment but he claimed the police did not take him.
