Donald Ramotar calls on Disciplined Services to support continuity and progress by voting PPP/C

DEAR Members of the Disciplined Forces, come Monday November 21st, 2011, I urge you to support progress and continuity by voting for the PPP/C to remain in Government. The PPP/C administration has recognised an increasingly credible performance by the Disciplined Forces in implementing its security policies and strategies. There have been many challenges along the way, but the Disciplined Forces have continued to enjoy the confidence of the PPP/C Government of Guyana.
This confidence has been supported and reflected in the consistently increasing budgetary  allocations provided to the Disciplined Forces since 1992, as shown below:

The tables presented here clearly demonstrate the stark contrast between the 1992 situation and today.
Human resource development has benefited officers and ranks of the Disciplined Forces leading
to a better managed Joint Services; expanded training opportunities have impacted positively on service delivery and provided officers and ranks with marketable skills for their post-retirement livelihood.
ICT is becoming the backbone of communication, data management investigations and prosecutions for the Disciplined Forces. Public confidence and support have consequently grown, contributing immensely to the successes of intelligence-led security operations.
The post-2011 administration pledges to continue the current studied policies and strategies and intends to work with you to promote more increases in public confidence and support for the Disciplined Forces.
Under the PPP/Civic, we give a high premium to professionalism and will ensure that days when ranks saw deductions from their wages to pay for party newspapers, and were forced to sell and distribute political materials, never return.

I will also ensure that opportunities for the acquisition of life-skills and talents are expanded so that when our ranks retire, they can integrate into all aspects of society and further contribute to their own and the country’s prosperity.
The PPP/C, therefore, pledges to continue working to improve the welfare of serving members of the Disciplined Forces. With the PPP/C remaining in office, together, we will fight crime and ensure security for all in Guyana.
On November 21st, 2011, I call on you to support continuity and progress and vote for the PPP/C.

DONALD RAMOTAR
Presidential Candidate, PPP/C
