GDF reports…

Missing grenades accounted for but probe continues
THE Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has reported that all the grenades that were reported missing or unaccounted for on Friday, October21, have been accounted for at its Tacama, Berbice River training base.
A release recalled that, since the report, from the Colonel John Clarke Military School, an investigation was immediately launched and it was established that account has been given for all the grenades issued to the training base.
The release said the 40 grenades were found in two boxes aback of the accommodation housing the senior training staff, contrary to GDF regulations, which prescribe that grenades not in use are to be kept in the arms and ammunition stores.
Investigations have also revealed a deliberate plan to steal grenades from the facility and a Warrant Officer is under close arrest while investigations continue, to determine if there are other perpetrators and what Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were breached, the statement said.
