RAWLE Noel was also remanded to prison on Thursday on a robbery under arms charge.
He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry but was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which said, on March 4, 2003, being armed with a gun, he robbed Stanley Gillette of gold jewellery valued at $256,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the victim had been drinking at a bar when the accused, in company with two others, attacked and robbed him.
The Prosecutor said Gillette recognised the robber, whom he knew from childhood but since the incident, the accused went into hiding and only recently the virtual complainant saw him at a hospital and informed the police.
Noel has to make another court appearance on November 4.
