1000 house lots in Linden today
THROUGH the Ministry of Housing and Water, the Government of Guyana (GoG) will distribute approximately 1000 house lots to residents of Amelia’s Ward (Phase Three) in Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara/Upper Berbice) today, when the Housing Ministry hosts another of its One Stop Shops in that community. According to Housing and Water Minister Irfaan Ali, this exercise is but one of many underway to ensure that all Guyanese have equal access to opportunities that will contribute to the overall improvement of their lives.
He said, “We at the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) and at the Ministry of Housing remain committed to the task of ensuring that all eligible Guyanese get fair and equal treatment in receiving their house lots.”
He noted that one of the aims behind the robust housing drive is to provide a channel for the integration of citizens into society, thereby ensuring that all are equally involved in the development process.
Ali explained that, in developing housing schemes, the ministry will always ensure there is a regional spread, thereby providing housing to regions according to their specific demands.
No region will be excluded; the ministry will provide answers to each region’s shelter needs in a tangible way, he asserted.
This year, the ministry plans to execute 18 One Stop Shop exercises in nine of the country’s 10 administrative regions.
Minister Ali pointed out that the One Stop Shop approach has been successful over the years because activities associated with the allocation process are carefully planned and executed in an open and transparent manner, and in the presence of residents of the various areas.
