A DOLPHIN measuring some six feet in length lost its family in the Atlantic Ocean and was washed to shore at Better Success village on the Essequibo Coast at around 20:00 hrs Tuesday night. Reports said a fisherman who went to check his seine found the helpless mammal stuck on the mud bank and brought it to the shore.
As news spread in the village about the dolphin, a large crowd quickly gathered on the sea wall to get a glimpse of the mammal.
However, residents who felt sorry for the dolphin quickly arranged to get it back to the ocean so the ‘little’ dolphin can reunite with its family.
Residents cheered loudly as some men and boys took the dolphin back to sea. It was good seeing everyone so concerned about the helpless mammal. (I. Natram)
