ACTING Chief Justice Mr. Ian Chang, S.C., has recently admitted new lawyer Mr. Madan Kissoon, to the Bar, giving him the opportunity to practise his profession in this country. The new lawyer’s petition was presented by Senior Counsel, Mr. Robin Stoby. The new advent is one of the first professional graduates of the New Guyana School on Brickdam.
He had attended St. Margaret’s Primary School, New Guyana School, and School of the Nations before proceeding to the University of Guyana to commence his law programme, the LLB Degree, and thereafter to Hugh Wooding Law School to complete the Professional course, Council of Legal Education Certificate.
The petitioner, son of Mr. Jailall Kissoon, completed the required course of study and satisfied the requirements to become an attorney-at-law.
Mr. Jailall Kissoon and siblings have a record at the Inner Temple for the highest number of persons from one family to be qualified as barristers-at-law at the Inner Temple.
After thanking the Chief Justice for admitting him and for his words of guidance, and Senior Counsel Stoby for presenting his petition, the young lawyer had special praise for his parents, Hema and Jailall Kissoon, his siblings, especially his sister Prithima Kissoon, who had incessantly guided him and moulded him into the person he is today.
He also thanked his professors, especially Professor Bishop, and his teachers for, without their unwavering confidence and gems of knowledge that they had imparted to him, he would not have attained his goals.
Following the admission ceremony, the new lawyer and his legal colleagues were entertained by the Chief Justice in his Chambers.
