– on two joint charges of robbery under arms
SHAWN Welch and Michael Taylor (no addresses given) were yesterday remanded to prison on two joint charges of robbery under arms.
The duo appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the charges which stated that, on September 23, being armed with a gun, they robbed Indira Dhandoo of $1M cash, three cell phones and a quantity of jewelry totalling $1.4M. Also on the said day, the defendants, being armed with a gun, robbed Mohamed Kharim of one Blackberry phone priced at $150,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, objected to bail because of the seriousness of the offence and the likelihood of the defendants committing other offences.
Both defendants were remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to another court for October 18.
