NEW Canadian High Commissioner to Guyana Mr. David Devine yesterday presented his credentials to President Bharrat Jagdeo at State House. He replaces Mr. Francois Montour who departed Guyana in early August at the end of his tour of duty here. At the end of the accreditation ceremony, the new Canadian High Commissioner had a meeting with President Jagdeo.
“I am very pleased and honoured to represent Canada as its High Commissioner here in Guyana,” Devine said, speaking to the media in a prepared statement.
“Canada very much values its long standing relationship with the people of Guyana which is based on common values including a mutual commitment to democracy, prosperity and security.
“There is tremendous potential for enhanced economic growth, investments and partnership and I will be working hard to make sure that this happens in a socially responsible manner,” Devine said.
The High Commissioner did not entertain any questions at the end of his statement.
