THE police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 19:15 hrs on Sunday  last, at No. 45 Village Public Road, Corentyne,  Berbice, and which resulted in the death of  Steven Coppin, 65 years, of  Bengal Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.

Investigations revealed that motor vehicle GJJ 6852 was proceeding along No. 45 Village Public Road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a stationary donkey cart which was on the side of the road.

As a result, Steven Coppin, who was sitting on the donkey cart, received injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Wellington Hospital.
Police said the body is at the Fort Wellington Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
Police said the driver has been arrested and is in custody assisting with the investigations.
