Son charged with teddy bear theft from mother

TWENTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD Eric Velloza, of Lot 201 Lamaha Street, Georgetown, has been charged with stealing from his mother. Before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, on Tuesday, he pleaded not guilty to the charge, particulars of which said, on August 15, he stole a teddy bear, valued $5,000, belonging to his mother, Venetta Etwaroo.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, objected to bail on the ground that, since they reside at the same address, the defendant will interfere with his mother.
His mother, however, told the court she would like him to be warned because he, often, steals from her.
The magistrate granted the defendant pre-trial liberty on $20,000 surety and transferred the case to another court for October 25.
