Strays on public road pose serious, dangerous situation

– Chairman Baksh
CHAIRMAN of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Ali Baksh has acknowledged that the situation regarding stray animals on the public road is very serious and dangerous.
Responding to a complaint by Councillor Pooran Persaud, he said cattle farmers, despite several warnings, are still, deliberately, allowing their livestock to roam.
Baksh said the Anna Regina Town Council and the five Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) on the Essequibo Coast must employ stray catchers to deal with the problem.
He also said he has requested the use of trucks similar to those being used in Georgetown at least twice a month to round up the strays.
Alliance for Change Councillor, Mr. Francis Darchiville supported the call for strong action to get strays off the public road.
