Dowrich stars in Sagicor HPC win

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados –  Shane Dowrich made a stroke-filled 79 from 76 balls as the Sagicor High Performance Centre had a big win by 80 runs (Duckworth/Lewis Method) over University of the West Indies, Thursday night at Kensington Oval.
It was the final match for the Sagicor HPC team before the second semester concludes and Dowrich cashed on a good batting pitch. The little right-hander hit four fours and three sixes as his side posted 253 for six off their 50 overs.
In reply, UWI were bowled out for 154 off 35.5 overs after the target was adjusted to 235 off 43 overs – seven overs were lost due rain.
Dowrich played a brilliant knock, adding 94 in just 11 overs for the fifth wicket with Shamarh Brooks, who made 44 off 31 balls with three fours and a six. Earlier in the innings opener Rajendra Chandika made a watchful 57 which required 115 balls.
In the second half of the match, seamer Jason Holder did the early damage to end with two for 18 from seven overs. Pacer Kevin McClean also bowled well to take two for 29. Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul (2-33) and leg-spinner Kerron Cottoy (2-32) also showed great control.
