Victoria Kings beat BV/Triumph in the Mackeson/EDFA League

THE annual Mackeson/EDFA Football League which kicked off on July 9 is into its second week with action continuing at the Beterverwagting (BV) ground over the weekend. On Sunday, the double-header saw Ann’s Grove come from behind and play to a 3-3 draw with Plaisance in the curtain-raiser then Victoria Kings trounced the home team BV/Triumph 2-0.
Those games were rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday due to the inclement weather.
However, no games were played at the Buxton venue on Sunday since the referees did not show up but all the teams were present.
According to reports, calls were made to Guyana Football Referees Council’s (GFRC) Roy McArthur but subsequent to those calls, he could not be reached because his phone was turned off.
Meanwhile, Plaisance’s John Heligar scored a brace in the 10th and 70th minutes and was supported by another teammate who accounted for the third goal. His name was not recorded on the results sheet.
For the Ann’s Grove team, Dwayne Rogers scored in the 50th minute, Kevon Barry in the 64th minute and Glenroy Semple in the 85th minutes. These players were instrumental in holding Plaisance to a draw.
In the feature showdown, a Pierre Joseph goal in the 9th minute and one in the 70th minute were enough to push Victoria Kings to victory over BV/Triumph.
