In the Victor Warner murder investigation…

Police to return file to DPP for further advice
FOLLOWING the brutal murder of Essequibo businessman Victor Warner, 70, in May last, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had asked the police to carry out further investigations, and as such the file is with the police.
He stated that the file is soon to be returned to the DPP for further advice.

Persaud added that initially, several persons including relatives were arrested for questioning, but were later placed on bail.
He noted that the investigation is active.
Victor Warner was discovered murdered at his 11 Richmond residence on May 19 last. A spanner and a hammer were recovered at the murder scene.
The police found no sign of forced entry.
A quantity of cash and jewellery were missing. The police said that they later discovered gold that was stolen.
Four suspects were in police custody—Warner’s daughter, a son, a close female associate and her reputed husband.
Warner’s bloodied body was discovered by his 17-year old grandson, Navin Warner, around 06:45hrs after he came downstairs to meet his aunt, Roxie, who was calling at the front gate.
According to reports, the businessman, who sleeps alone in the bottom flat of the building, where his business is located, was found dead, lying in a pool of blood near his freezer, with his head smashed in.
Reports said the entire shop was looted and a large sum of money, jewellery and raw gold were stolen.
However, reports are not clear as to how the bandits gained entry into the building, since there was no evidence of forced entry.
