I take this opportunity to officially present the most ‘Clumsy Letter
Writer’ in the history of Guyana. His/her name is Ashley Singh. If any reader has doubts regarding the existence and manifestation of ‘poor’ writing, I ask the ‘doubter’ to just read the July 10, KN’s “The Gun and the Silver Bullet.”
Ashley Singh, in his/her ‘feculent balderdash’ conjured up a myriad of follies (I stopped counting at 20), and made flippant, non-sententious, and non-corroborative statements against the Jagdeo-led PPP/C. By virtue of ‘topics’ to discuss, the letter is destined for a non-assessment grade, as ‘F’ is going to be an exaggerated elevation. So, I now address some of this ‘nonsense.’
When Ashley Singh declared that “(He is wondering) if the suffering of poor Guyanese will ever end. (And that) surely, this will not happen under the PPP government. (For since) The Jagans died … so did the PPP,” he/she announced his/her foolish self, quite clearly.
In one sentence, the neophytic writer made an ‘attempt’ to discuss at least three things, and none of them is developed. Let me inform Ashley Singh, that when he/she is talking about the ‘poor’ and their ‘suffering’ he/she is not the advocate for any visible sect of Guyanese.
Secondly, Ashley Singh seems oblivious of the international personage of President Bharrat Jadeo, who is still adding to the PPP/C’s expanded and benevolent image. Just one case in point: the crossover from the PNCR to the PPP/C continues to threaten complete dissolving of the PNCR.
As regards Ashley Singh’s “… poor (who) are forced to pay heavy taxes such as VAT…” I ask that he/she show me in which country, the citizens are relieved of this obligation. As a matter of fact, VAT in Guyana was quite dilatory. And for further elucidation, in the developed countries of the world (for sure Canada), at the end of one’s working life, he actually got only 45% of his gross income. You, Ashley Singh, need to check out what obtains in the world at large.
Stupidity reaches a crescendo in the ‘failed analysis’ regarding “…the prevent(ing) (of) the children of the poor from having a proper education, (and) thereby preventing them from having good jobs.” (By the way, I cannot understand why the editor did not clean up this kind of clumsy writing). In Guyana, Education has reached an unprecedented high. Did you not follow the recent NGSA result? Apart from being numerically uplifting, it was geographically encouraging. Education in Guyana is FREE and well organized. And when one is desirous of pursuing higher learning (beyond high school), the field is diverse, and the loan arrangement is salubrious. Again, I ask that you check out university loan arrangement, say in Canada or the USA.
Since your letter (Ashley Singh) is so falsified, confusing and ‘topic-full’ I am forced to close shortly. I think I have made my point. However, just in case you or anyone else needs more debunking, here it comes.
I ask again, that you check for the statistical evidence, before ‘yuh blarr yuh mout.’ In Guyana, it is only now that ownership of houses/lots is the norm. Do you realise that? The PPP/C has a housing agenda that says every family must have a house/lot. I remember the corruption, stupidity and failure of the Burnham-led PNC’s FCH (feed, clothe, house) programme. So many people are beginning to own their own houses/lots, and hence, starting to enjoy better and proper living conditions. For confirmation, just visit the once pasture land of Sophia. What used to be ‘swamp’ and ‘cow-grazing’ territory is now a lovely, picturesque and serene human habitat.
Mr/Mrs. Ashley Singh, I deem you a ‘bearer of lies’ and a ‘very, very poor’ writer. You write far poorer, than the ‘imagined poor’ you seek to represent.
