Guyanese must have their share of mining investments

GUYANESE, while welcoming mining investments, must make absolutely sure that they receive their full share from mining projects. Any private airfields and wharves built in the interior should be carefully monitored. It is vitally important that Guyanese personnel and controls for extraction and shipping of raw materials be in place if we are to ensure all agreements, with proper terms are enforced.  Unfortunately, corruption tends to occur when large sums of money are involved. Government must employ whatever experts and expenses are necessary to ensure these projects ultimately benefit Guyana.  As they say, trust, but verify.
