All set for FastBall kick-off tomorrow at MSC ground

ALL is set for the historic GT&T FastBall tournament which  kicks off  tomorrow at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC)  Ground, Linden.
A formal opening ceremony at 18:00hrs will see the 32 teams from Linden in a parade around the ground, along  with tournament officials, sponsors, and officials of the Football fraternity.

The opening night will feature eight teams beginning at 19:00hrs as follows:
Eagles United vs Bosai & Company; Topp 20 A vs Kwakwani Warriors; Amelia’s Ward United vs Ituni Peace Makers  and Net Rockers vs Mahdia Gold Getters
GT&T’s innovative FastBall tournament is expected to generate much excitement in the mining town as it promises to be a thrilling night. A one-million-dollar promotion will be part of the opening night’s games along with a grand concert featuring international artiste Konshens and several local performers including Jory.
The excitement will then be taken to grounds across the country in an effort to ensure all Guyanese have a fair chance to share in the excitement.
FastBall was launched on May 20 after which several awareness games were held in various football districts sensitising teams to the rules of the game.
According to Kashif Mohammad, a member of the FastBall Coordinating  team, plans are progressing smoothly and logistics are in place for the tournament. He said the final fixtures are being reviewed and should be published shortly.
Registration for the inaugural GT&T FastBall Tournament closed at just over 200 teams and according to Mohammad, “This is a very historic event. There has never been a football tournament in the Caribbean and Guyana that attracted so many teams.”
