T&HD workers deliberately left truck loaded with fish on Good Hope stelling

…says fisherman Narine
A truck laden with 4,500 pounds of fish was left stranded on the Good Hope Ferry Stelling yesterday morning after workers of the Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) loaded an empty truck on the ferry instead of the truck with the perishable goods.
Owner of the truck and fish, Deochand Narine, said the 4,500 pounds of fish include 3,000 pounds kuma kuma and 300 pounds wet glue.
Narine said the fish and glue are destined for Georgetown where they are sold to public and private businesses.
He said his truck with its cargo was booked in advanced to travel on yesterday from the ferry for Parika.
Narine, who is also a fisherman, said his truck was already weighed on the scale and was on the wharf in line for the gangway to get on the ferry when T&HD workers deliberately allowed an empty truck to get on the ferry, leaving the cargo of fish to perish. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
