I was told umpteen times (and I have read for myself too) that Jesus was born of a virgin, and that he lived a ‘perfect and sinless’ life. The ‘Jesus Story’ further states that He ‘died and rose from the dead the third day.’ Outside of the Bible, there is very little evidence that this record is wholly authentic (especially the resurrection). Also, if one is to cite the Bible as a source of authority, I ask a simple but realistic question: Can the Bible be trusted? Here are my reasons for seeking some answers.
First, there is no ‘original copy’ of the Bible, and thus, how can the many succeeding translations be corroborated? The Bible (especially the Gospels) was put together long after Jesus and his Disciples left the earthly scene, so how can the account be trusted? The myriads of discrepancies among the translations and versions, as well as the internal disharmony are too many to enumerate, so how can one believe these ‘Scriptures?’ And finally, what books of this Book are to be considered divine, authentic, authoritative and thus acceptable? This is because there is great disagreement among the very many sects within Christianity. The King James Version has 66 books, but Churches like the Roman Catholic accept the Pseudepigrapha and Apocrypha. This is so contradictory and confusing. So one is tempted to discredit Christianity all together. In fact, Martin Luther altogether denigrated and discarded the ‘Epistle of James.’
I close by stating a generally held opinion, but one which is kept silent and downplayed. This has to deal specifically with the ethnic belonging of Jesus. The specific truth that is being sought is that of the racial belonging of Jesus. It seems that there was a lot of ‘Black’ blood in Jesus. So an elaboration is necessary. Also, if and when the truth is established, and if Jesus was indeed ‘tinctured’ with ‘Black’ blood, would it make a great difference?
I close with a summary of how the present, contemporary ‘Holy Bible’ was bequeathed to the world, and one still has to ask if this ‘Bible’ comprises 66 books, or the ‘extras’ that are still in use by some sects. One must note that prior to these injections by these Councils, the various doctrines and teachings each promulgated, did not inhere (nor does not) in the Bible.
1. Nicea (A.D. 325)-The Doctrine of the Consubstantiation of Jesus-i.e. Designating Jesus as being one in ‘essence’ with God. The man behind this Council was Emperor Constantine.
2. Constantinople (A.D. 381)-The Doctrine of the Trinity i.e. a Triune God in the form of father, Son and Holy Ghost. The man behind this Council was Theodosius The Great.
3. Ephesus (A.D. 431)-Mary as God (or as Holy Mother of God), and making her unique as being born ‘without original sin.’The man behind this is Theodosius The Second and Valentianus The Third.
4. Chalcedon (A.D. 451)-The Dual Nature of Jesus (being full God and Man at one and the same time). The man behind this Council was Marcianus, who also granted the ‘Infallibility’ to the Pope, so that doctrines, tenets and polities can be altered.
5. Constaniople (A.D. 553)-The endowment of power for the ‘Council of Elders,’ ascribing them authority in determining Church Doctrines and Orthodox practices. The man behind this Council was Justinian.
