RAJESHWAR Persaud, of Lot 6 Seaforth Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on June 11, he had one .380 Taurus and one Sterling Mark Two pistols as well as eighteen .32 and three 9 mm rounds without licences for them.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunte, prosecuting, said, acting on a report, ranks went to Persaud’s house and a search yielded the guns and bullets.
The prosecutor, successfully objected to bail for Persaud and he was remanded to prison.
The cases were transferred to another court, for Persaud to make his next appearance in front of Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on August 15.
