RYAN Simon nicknamed Rallie’, of Liverpool, was sentenced to six months imprisonment yesterday, for unlawfully wounding Carlton Butcher.
Magistrate Fabayo Azore imposed the custodial sentence on the farmer after convicting him of the offence.
Prosecuting Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram told the court, at Whim, another Corentyne, Berbice village, that, on October 18, 2008, the two men were playing a game of cards while imbibing alcohol.
However, after Simon won a large sum of money on a game, an argument arose and Butcher pushed the former, who retaliated by hitting his friend on his thigh with a piece of wood, causing him to suffer injuries.
