Doobay murder…

Minister Rohee confirms police report of confession
MINISTER of Home Affairs, Mr. Clement Rohee confirmed, yesterday, that a male relative of Mrs. Sherani Doobay has confessed to her murder and has since led investigators to the death weapon.
He said the relevant file is at the chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) awaiting advice.

Meanwhile, Police Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said two suspects are in police custody following the killing of the wife of prominent doctor, Dr. Ramsundar Doobay, at her home last week Tuesday.
The Assistant Commissioner added that, of the two in detention, one is a relative (nephew) of the victim. But several other persons were also questioned and the investigations are continuing.
Dr. Doobay, Head of Internal Medicine at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), has also given a statement to the police regarding his whereabouts on the day his 59-year-old wife was found dead in their Echilibar Villas, Campbellville, Georgetown home, about 15:30 hours.
She had suffered injuries to her head and other parts of her body and samples of hair found clasped in her hands as well as from her husband will be tested, along with blood spots detected in the house.
The police have also uplifted partial fingerprints from the premises in which the bludgeoned woman was left on the kitchen floor.
The corpse was discovered by Dr. Doobay, who had returned home having forgotten his keys in the house. After calls to her went unanswered, he sought the assistance of a male relative, who gained entry to the building through a window and opened a door.
Robbery was ruled out as a motive because nothing of value, including a large sum of cash, was stolen.
