ADE Doobay (no address given) was remanded to prison yesterday, on charges of attempted murder, discharging a loaded firearm and robbery under arms.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, particulars of one of the indictable offences with which he is charged, said last March 18, with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm, he discharged the loaded gun at Rishie Sahadeo. The other allegations against Doobay said, being armed with the gun, he robbed Michael Vieira of $4.1M, belonging to E.C Vieira Investments Ltd and, on April 23, he committed the attempted murder by discharging a loaded firearm at Radford Liverpool.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said, on March 18, the accused, in company with two other persons, went to the office of E. C. Vieira Investments Ltd and took away the money from the virtual complainant at gunpoint.
The prosecutor, successfully objected to bail for Doobay although defence counsel Patrice Henry claimed the accused was not in the jurisdiction at the time of the alleged offences.
The lawyer tendered Doobay’s passport and Pindar confirmed it had a departure stamp but pointed out that it did not indicate when he returned to Guyana and further investigations will have to be conducted.
Meanwhile, the prisoner was ordered to make his next appearance in another court today.
