Essequibo thieves targeting women’s underwear

THIEVES at Devonshire Castle Village on the Essequibo Coast are targeting women underwear, mostly, young married women and teenaged girls.
Reports said some teenaged girls who left their underwear on clothes lines during Wednesday night with other clothes to dry were shocked Thursday morning to discover that all their underwear were stolen.

Several reports from the village said many other families are experiencing the same problem and are now calling on the police to investigate and find the thieves.
One teenaged girl who spoke to the Guyana Chronicle said the thieves are operating like persons addicted to teenaged girls and young married women underwear which could lead to rape and indecent assault.
She said many of the young men in the village are using drugs and could use the underwear to target young girls and housewives. She said the police need to do more patrols in the village. (RAJENDRA PRABHULALL)
