Anna Regina improving social services with $9M subvention

THE Anna Regina Town Council in Essequibo is currently spending its $9M subvention from Central Government to improve social services for its citizens, according to Superintendent of Works, Mr. Bishnu Ganpat. He reported that nine projects will be undertaken, among them the installation of a 20 feet by 24 inches air chamber tube at Romeo Street, Danielstown, to improve drainage in that area while Woolfie Street in Three Friends will be upgraded with sand, loam and crusher run.
A 20 feet revetment and air chamber tube will also be installed at Three Friends for the same purpose, Ganpat said.
He said Motilall Street in Coffee Grove will be improved and, in Garaban Street, Walton Hall, a revetment will be constructed and a similar tube placed.
Ganpat said a box culvert will be built at Cotton Field and several other streets within the township will see improvement with sand, loam and crusher run.
The creation of 1,400 rods of drains will also be done in the Three Friends to Walton Hall section. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
