I WAS present during the failed debate of ‘No Confidence’ moved by Patricia Chase-Green, seconded by Llewellyn John and only supported by Junior Garrett, Gwendolyn McGowan and Ranwell Jordan. In Mr. Jordan’s contribution, which I thought was completely irrelevant to the motion, he began by saying that the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Royston King’s worries began when Mr. Backer returned to the country and the Mayor wanted him, Backer, to occupy the position of the Public Relations Officer.
I wish to state adequately as follows:
1. I am a paralegal with experience in the USA and had no interest in the Public Relations [post] at City Hall.
2. I never asked the Mayor to give me such a position.
3. I had no conversation with Mr. Jordan or anyone else on this or any related matter.
When I heard the statement, I found it unbelievable and since I was present, I sought to ascertain if I was the person being referred to, and the answer was yes.
This statement is completely unfounded and I believe as a citizen, Mr Jordan not only owes me an apology, but he should also explain this wild statement he made in what is a public forum.
It has caused me some embarrassment and I may have to pursue other measures.
