THE ATTEMPTS by the PNC/R to disrupt the meeting of President Bharrat Jagdeo and PPP Presidential Candidate in New York on Friday April 29 clearly demonstrate their desperation, and illustrates the fact that they are still stuck in the past, with no vision but a strong commitment to create havoc with their anti-progress rhetoric. However, their bid failed in a most interesting fashion as the PNC/R, along with other opposition parties and as usual the extremists could hardly muster a small group of persons to support their demonstration, which incidentally was held nowhere near to where the meeting took place but rather about a block away. Guyanese living abroad are not isolated from the realities in Guyana; they know the facts and know the developments that have taken place over the years and even the PNC/R supporters in the Diaspora are aware of these developments, hence some of their presence at the PPP/C meeting where they actively participated in constructive discussions with the leaders.
If it was not clear before, it is now crystal clear that all Guyanese are interested in stability and progress, and even though they were traditional supporters of the opposition, they have quietly acknowledged the fact that the PPP/C is by far the most capable to continue its plan of ensuring that Guyana restores its economic pride in the Caribbean.
We the Guyanese community in New York and the United States as a whole endorse the PPP/C’s choice of Presidential Candidate and stand committed and firm in our support for the next PPP/C Government.
It is no secret that the PNC/R lacks vision and seems hell bent on filling that vacuum by creating instability and dividing Guyana at all cost as this party has demonstrated historically.
As a Guyanese living abroad, I have no apologies in endorsing the PPP/C this time around for its stringent and prudent management of our Guyana, from infrastructural to social development, and the list goes on.
This is the very reason the opposition continue to use their only option of protest and promoting violence to distort the facts and try to divert attention for the tremendous improvements in standards of living for all Guyanese since 1992.
Rip Van Winkle David Granger and his cohorts (including Freddie Kissoon and Mark Benschop) need to wake up to these realities.
The PNC/R’s cheap politicking will not convince voters.
