Son fined for damaging mother’s chair

TREVOR Sinclair nicknamed ‘Burnham’, who broke his mother’s chair in anger, was fined $10,000 on Thursday, for damage to property.
Magistrate Fabayo Azore, imposed the penalty on him at Albion Court, after he pleaded guilty to committing the offence at the Fyrish home of Carmen Rogue, also at Corentyne, Berbice.
But Sinclair denied another charge of assault causing actual bodily harm and was ordered to post $20,000 bail until May 3.
Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, said the defendant returned home shortly after 03:00hrs on April 8, when his mother was preparing meals and demanded to be fed but became annoyed on being scolded for his drug habit and threw the plate of food on the woman.
The Prosecutor said the virtual complainant was sweeping the scattered grains when her son lifted the chair and hurled it out on the verandah, resulting in it being damaged.
