THE National Parks Commission has indicated that a nominal fee will be charged for patrons who wish to take their vehicles (buses, cars, motor-cycles) into the Botanic Gardens on Easter Monday. The Parks Commission said the money collected will be used to offset expenses incurred in cleaning of the gardens of the usually heavy garbage and debris left in the aftermath of kite-flying and picnicking activities.
A release from the Parks Commission said garbage bags would be distributed free of cost, with the view that they will be collected periodically during that day to ease the clean-up exercise.
Patrons will utilise the western entrance on Vlissengen road to access the gardens.
Similar fees will be charged at the National Park by the duly authorized franchisee. Patrons will use the Carifesta Avenue Gate to gain access and exit at Albert Street gate.
The Parks Commission said that admission to Joe Vieira Park, Region Three will be free between 06:00 hrs and 18:00 hrs.
Vending of beverages is strictly prohibited except by the duly authorized franchisee, the release stated.
