PPP/C’s presidential candidate represents continuation of Guyana’s development thrust

THAT Donald Ramotar was elected as the PPP/C presidential candidate should come as no surprise for those who are akin to politics in Guyana.
Mr. Ramotar brings extensive knowledge based on experiences and professional expertise of Guyana’s political economy.
Having been with the PPP/C for most of his life, his experience will serve as an invaluable asset as he seeks to further propel Guyana into reaching new heights. Mr. Ramotar’s connections with the ‘grass roots’ will certainly boost his chances at the 2011 polls.

Further, his area of strength lies in the domain of the environment and he will seek to continue the projects he would have inherited from his illustrious predecessor, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, especially the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS), the Amaila Falls Hydro project and the One Laptop per Family Project. All three of these have the potential to further consolidate Guyana as a power in the field of climate change and ICT development.
It is expected that Mr. Ramotar will continue from where Dr. Jagan started and from where Dr. Jagdeo continued, and forge ahead Guyana’s social, economic and ICT transformation.
