FROM its inception, the PPP/C has always stressed the need for a united nation. Even in its masterpiece on inclusive governance, the party has espoused this same concept throughout this document.
And so it should come as no surprise when three (3) of the four candidates withdrew from the race for the presidential candidate of the PPP/C and supported Donald Ramotar as the candidate.
Such an action serves as an indication of the maturity and unity in the party. The party preaches unity, and in its internal mechanizations, it is practised.
What has been manifested is that Mr. Ramotar basically received the support of the entire party, which augurs well for the 2011 elections.
However, can the same be said of the PNCR?
So the PPP/C has again set the standard for political parties in Guyana and perhaps even further afield, that there must be unity internally before we can aspire to unity as a nation.
