Vreed-en-Hoop roadside vendors to be relocated to Phoenix Park

Vendors selling alongside the Vreed-en-Hoop Public Road have until Monday to remove from the area.
This deadline was arrived at following a meeting Friday morning between Regional Chairman Julius Faerber and some of the vendors
According to Faerber, vendors would be relocated at the newly built tarmac at Phoenix Park, West Bank Demerara.
He informed that all vendors who comply with the deadline would pay no market fees for two weeks, and that the regional administration and the Neighbourhood Democratic Council would take appropriate action against those who fail to comply.
Only a handful of vendors showed up at the meeting which they had all been informed about.
Faerber noted that the vendors posed a threat not only to road users but to themselves as well.
He also reminded vendors that it is illegal to sell alongside the roadway and urged them to cooperate.
