Pakaraima Mountain Safari…

Jamaican sponsorship of Guyanese promoting Guyana eco-tourism
A JAMAICAN company was praised, last week, for sponsoring one of the drivers currently on the Pakaraima Mountain Safari (PMS).
ELARC Welding Products Ltd. came in for the praise, by its local associates, Associated Industries Limited (AINLIM) of the Neal and Massy Group of Companies, through sponsorship of Mr. Cecil Beharry, a Guyanese resident in Jamaica.

The occasion was a send-off ceremony for Beharry at AINLIM, on Friday, at which that company’s employees as well as organisers of the PMS and staff members of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce participated.
AINLIM Manager, Agricentre & Safety Equipment Departments, Mr. Alvin Parag said that his company has, through its predecessors, had a favourable relationship with ELARC, since its 1972 establishment in Jamaica, to support  the growing industrial base in the Caribbean, particularly bauxite in Jamaica, Guyana and Suriname.

He said, initially, ELARC products were made and distributed by Neal and Massy and that volume has grown to some 70 now on offer.
The ELARC brand is, currently, represented by AINLIM within the Safety Equipment Department, which sells a large range, including fire extinguishers and associated equipment, traffic safety and personal protective equipment and industrial hygiene products.
Beharry works in the automotive industry in Jamaica but has been coming to Guyana for the PMS over the past three years, as an ordinary traveller but, this year, thanks to ELARC, he has been able to take part in the adventure using his own motor vehicle.
His being sponsored by ELARC for the PMS was widely publicised in Jamaica and he was given a rousing send-off when he left that island for Guyana.
Parag said: “By this sponsorship, ELARC is, once again, demonstrating its Caribbean vision. Through it, our associate in Jamaica is not only helping Mr. Beharry but also to promote Guyana’s eco-tourism.
