McDoom-bridge accident…

Doctors keeping close watch on badly hurt driver
NINETEEN-year-old Derick Seeram of Alexander Village, the motorist whose car on Friday night careened off the Mc Doom Bridge, on the East Bank carriageway, scaled a trench and landed in the compound of a neighbourhood Masjid, yesterday remained warded at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) under close watch of doctors on duty there.

Fully conscious and communicating with relatives and friends at his bedside, he however complained of still feeling the effects of injuries he sustained to his back, head, neck and arms.

Seeram was admitted unconscious on Friday night, but ‘came to’ the same night, and was subsequently transferred to the Male Accident Ward. His brother Devon told the Chronicle that hospital authorities were more concerned about the injuries to his back, and are against discharging him as yet. He is also likely to have a C-scan done to ascertain the extent of the back injury.

Meanwhile, the other three persons travelling in the car with him were treated for multiple injuries the night of the accident and sent home. No one sustained any life-threatening injuries, relatives said. Those others injured were: Telston Mc Kinnon, 20; Gabriella Spencer, 18; and Candace Subryan, 24.

The motor vehicle, a Honda CRV (PJJ 665), was reportedly travelling south along the Mc Doom Public Road and was about to cross the bridge on the eastern carriageway when the accident occurred.
Those who saw the vehicle after the wreck, all conceded it was a miracle that the occupants all survived, and with only minor injuries, as detected, so far, in the three other casualties.
