Post mortem for Herstelling miner

A post mortem is to be performed on the body of 23-year-old Vishram Lall, a popular motor racer and gold miner, who died on Tuesday in a smash-up involving a Guyana Fire Service tender and a Honda motor car in which he was travelling to the city. The accident occurred just after 13:00hrs on the Bagotstown Public Road, at the entrance to the Demerara Harbour Bridge. Lall, of 217 Second Street, Herstelling, and three others who were in the motor car with him were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, badly injured. He was, pronounced dead soon after being admitted to the Accident and Emergency Unit.

Meanwhile, the driver of the motor vehicle, Lall’s cousin, 18-year-old Mikhail, who sustained multiple life-threatening injuries, underwent head surgery later that evening and is said to be recovering favourably. He is expected to be discharged sometime soon, a member of the Lall’s family said. The other two survivors, Rajendra Lochan 23, and another friend whose name was only given as Richie, are also recovering favourably.  They are all from Herstelling.

According to the dead man’s elder brother, Vino, in whose car the young men were travelling, Vishram, who owns a mining claim somewhere at Mahdia in the interior, was on his way to the city to purchase mechanical parts to take there with him. He was due to fly back into the interior on Wednesday, the day after he died.
Vishram is survived by his parents, Omada and Seerujanie Lall, a sister, Anupa, and two brothers, Ganesh and Vino.
