I wish to lend a shoulder to those calling upon government and the City Council to ratify the appointment of Mr. Royston King to be appointed as Town Clerk for the City of Georgetown. Mr. King has served the Council and the citizens most excellently for a number of years as Public Relations Officer when it was most difficult to impress the public. He notwithstanding, did an outstanding job in providing comfort and satisfaction to the citizens.

My understanding is that he gained the most points in his qualifications, his experience in the management of the city and in the interview.  It is fair then, that he is appointed.

I just cannot understand why it takes so long to appoint someone to a post like this, and why allow those who should not be there to sit there, even though they are fine people.

The City of Georgetown needs a disciplined, no-nonsense man or woman with backbone, yet one with understanding as to people’s needs, the city’s needs, with an ability to communicate with citizens at all levels of society.  Brother Royston King is just such a person.
The Ministry of Local Government and the City Council should appoint this gentleman to act until the bureaucratic sloth awakes and works.
